Lacrosse Hits

The game of lacrosse consists of two teams that battle it out to score goals by shooting a small ball into the other team's goal. This game is not without danger, especially in the men's lacrosse game and lacrosse hits are some of the dangerous hazards that players have to watch out for. Since it is legal for male lacrosse players to hit another player either with their stick or their bodies, lacrosse hits are some of the most looked out for movements in the game.

A lacrosse hit that is done within the limitations specified by the game's rules is acceptable, like tapping another person's stick to make him drop the ball or running into an opponent to exact the same effect. The use of excessive force is not condoned, however, and can either get the guilty player a personal foul or a technical foul, depending upon the kind of infraction the player executed.

Hits in lacrosse can be easily determined as being legal or being a foul with a few specific definitions and with the keen eyes of the game's referees. Some of the big lacrosse hits that can be called fouls include illegal body checking or hitting another person's stick or body when the ball is not in his possession and unnecessary roughness or the use of excessive force on another player with the use of either the stick or the body. These kinds of hits can be called by referees as personal fouls and may land a player some time in a penalty box.

Technical fouls can also be called and some of the moves that can be considered technical fouls include pushing a player from behind, preventing a player from moving even when he does not have the ball and even stalling for time to get the clock to run out without executing any legal game moves or by simply holding on to the ball.

As with professional lacrosse hits, college lacrosse hits can also go beyond specified boundaries and become fouls or even over-the-top offensive moves. Just like hockey, there will be times when players get enraged and exact certain hits that can cause a full-fledged rumble among the two teams. One such event happened between two college teams when one player checked another and rammed him into a wall in a box lacrosse match. This kind of a move resulted in an all-out fight after the player who got rammed into the wall tried to exact revenge and went after the guy who checked him. It is true that lacrosse hits are some of the most violent in sports.
